strewn through your beds

and reveal my secret lair,
why not crack open

your remaining days
with my hot, hammering heart

and face the void
each of us feeds?

Or instead remain
indoors, comfortable enough

so work outdoors is impossible
to imagine; so we can together

linger a little while longer
alone in darkness.
